DIABETES MELLITUS

Diabetes Mellitus:

Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic metabolic disease, very serious, and produced because the pancreas is unable to produce the hormone insulin. Obesity, sedentary lifestyle, eating junk food, aging and family heritage are the main causes of diabetes mellitus. Health complications caused by diabetes are very serious and endanger the lives of people who suffer. Diabetes mellitus has become a global epidemic.

GLUCOSE

Normal glucose levels:

We previously talked about the importance of measuring the width of our waist as this will tell  if we are at risk for cardiovascular disease such as stroke or heart attack. We also learned the formula to get our Body Mass Index for early detection of problems in our health.

What we are going to consider today is what normal or desirable level of sugar in our blood should be.

sugar levels on blood, glucose

OUR WAIST TALKS.

Our body talks and it does it through the size of our waist.

How wide is your waist will tell you easily how much fat is being accumulated at the central level of your body which is strongly related to serious heart problems such as heart attack and stroke.

HEART ATTACK

Heart attack:

Our heart is a muscle and like any other part of our body, needs oxygen to function properly. A heart attack occurs precisely when the oxygen supply is reduced or blocked in part because the plaque or what is commonly called fat in the coronary arteries that supply blood to our hearts, have narrowed and hardened (arteriosclerosis), forming a plug  preventing normal circulatory flow.

BODY MASS INDEX

How to calculate your own Body Mass Index (BMI)

The body mass index or BMI is better known as a practical and useful tool that will help us determine whether the weight of a person is according  to his/her stature. When the weight of a person goes according to his stature we say that this person is at  ideal weight. If our BMI is above 24.9 it means that we are in obesity group, which is very dangerous because it is  strongly related to many other diseases such heart attach and stroke.

Here is the formula to make yourself learn to calculate your Body Mass Index. The formula is to divide your weight in kilograms by the result given the multiplication of height x height. The result can be compared to the BMI chart according to the World Health Organization.

WHY DOES YOUR BIG TOE HURT?

Have you ever felt a sharp, stabbing pain in the big toe of your foot? Here may be your answer.

BREAST CANCER IN MEN AND WOMEN

Breast cancer in Men and women.

Our breast also speaks when they are sick. We need to pay attention when our body talks. These are the signs and symptoms that we need continuously check. We should NEVER find these symptoms on our breast. If so, we need to seek medical attention IMMEDIATELY! This can be the difference between life and death!

We should not find these signs on our breast:

ORANGE SKIN

ACHROCORDONS

Acrochordons

Acrochordons are not warts. Acrochordons are small benign skin appear that grow especially in areas that are prone to friction as the area below the chest, neck, armpits or groin, and sometimes appear on eyelids. Its appearance may be due mainly to rubbing skin to skin caused by the same obesity. They ARE NOT CONTAGIOUS!

NEVUS CHERRY

Nevus cherry

Explore your chest, face, neck, arms and back looking for moles as they appear in the picture.

Nevus cherry are small dilation of blood vessels.  They are flat, round, red and not greater than 2 mm. Usually they are more common in fair-skinned people, appear as advances in age and do not imply any health risk unless they present changes in shape, relief or diameter.

If Nevus cherry are on your face, it may be caused by overexposure to the sun without sunscreen. If they are too many and suddenly appear on your skin, you might have a problem with your liver and your diet, so it is advisable to go to the doctor to check on them.

Sometimes ruby moles or nevus cherry appear during pregnancy because of hormonal changes, but disappear after giving birth. Etiology or origin can be hereditary. If for some reason you want to eliminate them,  you can do it by laser but its cost is extremely high.

STROKE

STROKE

A stroke occurs when a blood clot does not allow blood to flow to the brain. Unable to receive oxygen due to a blockage caused by a clot, our brain cells or neurons die, and this is the reason why we must act fast. The most common cause of this is related to the narrowing of blood vessels that come from the heart by fatty plaques that block the arteries, hence the importance of us to eat as healthy as possible.

The stroke is global statistics as the second leading cause of death and doubles the number of deaths from traffic accidents. The chance of having a stroke increases with age, exceeding deaths from heart attacks.

ABOUT ME.

Hello.

My name is Cynthia R. I am from Costa Rica. I worked on the Nursing field for almost ten years. I loved my work. I really love to take care of people, and this is the reason of this blog. I have noticed that many people including my large family,  get health problems because they do not pay attention to the signs our body sends. What I want to achieve through this blog is to talk about these signs in order to teach people to pay attention when Our body talks and seek medical attention if it is needed,  as soon as it is possible.

Yes, I am the same one  who has another blog about health which is written in Spanish http://nuestrocuerpohabla.blogspot.com/ However, I have decided to create a blog that contains the same information that I already have displayed on the previous one, but this one will be completely in English which already done. I want to make your reading more pleasant without Spanish language interference and vice versa. Thus, I will have one  Health blog in Spanish and another in English as well. Both will have the same content but completely separated. I also have a blog about Art called http://artedonypasion.blogspot.com/
