WHY SHOULD YOU ROTATE INSULIN APPLICATION SITES?

Hello again.

Today I want to talk briefly about the consequences of failure to rotate the application of insulin injection. What you are seeing right below here it is a stomach of a diabetic patient who for years did not rotate the site of application of insulin.

If you are diabetic type 1 the doctor will prescribe you to inject insulin in several parts of your body. In addition, the doctor or nurse will instruct you how to do it properly in order to prevent the formation of fibrous tissue that prevents the proper absorption of insulin applied. As a result,  blood sugar will not fall as expected or if it does, it will very slowly.

However, although people are instructed how to do it properly, people do not rotate application sites insulin bringing with this, three types of problems at sites where it is injected.

Hypertrophy insulin:

It arises as a result of insulin grown fat tissue or repeated use of syringes.

Lipoatrophy

Which it is the loss of fatty tissue at the site of puncture or insulin injections. They look like subsidence of the skin and its texture is firm.

Lipodystrophy

These are not easy to see, but can be felt. They are small bumps that you can feel with your fingertips. Let rest that place where you feel the beanbag and report it to your doctor to help you formulate a rotation guide for the application of insulin.

RECOMMENDATIONS TO AVOID THIS PROBLEM.

Rote puncture sites.

Remember to rotate and leave space between the previous punctures.

Remember that insulin action will work slow or fast depending on the place insulin is applied. This simple guide can help you to properly rotate the puncture sites of insulin.

I understand that  this practice could be a little tedious,  but if the tissue it is not in suitable conditions to absorb insulin, would be like we are just injecting water .... then ... worth organize and do it well!

I sincerely hope you use this important information to share with others and take care better of yourself. Cynthia
