METABOLIC SYNDROME.

Hello again:

As you recall, I have been talking in previous posts about the importance of maintaining monitored levels of blood pressure, triglycerides, blood sugar or glucose, as size of our  waist, and cholesterol. And I wanted to leave these clear concepts before speaking of Metabolic Syndrome.

What is metabolic syndrome?

Metabolic syndrome is a set of conditions that put our lives in imminent risk of HEART DISEASE, DIABETES AND HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE.
If you have more than 3 of these factors out of ranges,  you are suffering from this disease, and are at high risk for heart problems and diabetes. It's in your hands to make the necessary changes  to correct this situation, and start enjoying a better life.

Check yourself using this chart.

People suffering from metabolic syndrome rarely experience some type of symptoms, however, the doctor can easily diagnose it through laboratory tests in order to detect as they are triglycerides and cholesterol. In addition to this findings, the doctor or yourself can check if your waist is within a healthy range. See  my previous post about "Our waist talks".

Causes:

The causes associated with metabolic syndrome are linked to family history or genes, bad eating habits, lack of exercise or sedentary lifestyle, hence it is very important that we maintain a vigilant position to reduce the consequences of our bad habits and food. We must correct what we are doing wrong with our body and lifestyle, in order to prevent serious health problems.

Recommendations:

1. Check your blood pressure regularly and keep an annotated record.Pay special attention if your blood pressure is showing data greater than 120/80. If your blood pressure is currently at 135/85 *pay attention and change lifestyle and feeding habits, reduce salt intake. It is also important you to read my post about "High blood pressure - "The silent killer".

2. Avoid eating junk foods and increase the consumption of fruits and vegetables.

3. Exercise daily for at least 30 minutes 5 days a week. This is the universal recommendation for a healthy heart. If you have any chronic illness, do not exercise without consulting your doctor before.

4. Metabolic syndrome can be treated with some drugs, however, is very likely that your doctor will ask for your active participation in the process of adopting healthy lifestyles such as walking, jogging, dancing, cycling and many others.

Summarizing: I want to make this clear:

If we eat bad (junk food) then, our cholesterol and triglycerides increase, and block our veins, making our hearts suffer causing him  to make a great effort to pass the blood veins that are not completely "clean" (with fatty plaques). This makes our heart overexertion increase blood pressure, and also poor diet and lack of exercise will undoubtedly attract the dreaded disease "diabetes". Doing daily exercise will increase the "good" cholesterol that protects our heart and in turn remove, the bad cholesterol that blocks our veins and arteries.

What do you think? It is best to do our part and stop all these problems in time, isn't?

How do you know if you have metabolic syndrome?

If you have more than 3 of these factors out of ranges,  you are suffering from this disease, and are at high risk for heart problems and diabetes. It's in your hands to make the necessary changes  to correct this situation, and start enjoying a better life.

I sincerely hope this post will help you  to take the necessary steps to help you stay away from diabetes and heart problems. Thank you for visiting and sharing my blog. Cynthia.
