Normal glucose levels:
We previously talked
about the importance of measuring the width of our waist as this will tell
if we are at risk for cardiovascular disease such as stroke or heart
attack. We also learned the formula to get our Body Mass Index for early
detection of problems in our health.
What
we are going to consider today is what normal or desirable level of sugar in
our blood should be.
How to measure our sugar:
To detect blood
levels we can make it through the glucometer or through a blood sample taken in
the laboratory.
What is glucose?
Sugar
is the fuel cell. It is what gives us energy and this energy is taken from
food. After lunch, our blood sugar or glucose will rise but will return to its
regular level two hours after eating.
Glucose lab test.
For people with
Diabetes Mellitus are conducted a laboratory test called A1C that will include
a summary of the levels of blood sugar for the past 2 or 3 months and if the
diabetes is well controlled, the result should be below 7. If the result is
greater than 7, then, rapid steps should be taken to keep sugar levels lower, to
avoid damaging other organs such as effect of high blood sugar levels in blood.
I hope this
information will be very useful for you.
